Uliana Urusova takes inspiration from the Oirat Mongolian heritage. The brand gives historical costumes a modern interpretation. In 2024, having met HH the Dalai Lama XIV, Uliana was determined to found a Kalmyk couture brand to preserve the culture of her homeland, Kalmykia, the only Buddhist region in Europe.

Uliana named the brand after her grandmother, Uliana Urusova. Her ancestry goes back to a royal family of Tümen Zasagt Khan. The brand utilizes only the finest materials and techniques, with production based at the heart of New York City.

Uliana has been sewing and drawing since early childhood. Her mother was a seamstress at a knitwear factory. In 2012, she completed a BFA in fashion design and merchandising in the US. Since then, she has produced hundreds of garments and custom looks. Uliana specializes in women’s ready-to-wear, eveningwear, bridal, and bespoke pieces. Her experience spans from tailoring, haute couture, and hand-making techniques to modern programs such as Adobe Creative Suite and Clo 3D.
